Je ne regrette rien…. except how little French I learned at school.

Je suis armed with my passport and on the way to St Pancras at the moment to catch le Eurostar to Paris. The fact I’ve just demonstrated all the French I know in that sentence isn’t making me at all nervous about spending the next week on t’other side of the Channel….

I’m Continent-bound with my Canadian friend Sarah, her sister Georgina and a lovely crop scientist called Mimi who I met while I was in Ontario a couple of years ago.

Sarah’s over in Europe for part of her Nuffield Farming Scholarship, which is about investigating local supply chains. She’s invited me to tag along for a few days to visit Parisian farmers markets, drive through the French countryside to find out about regional sourcing, eat nice food and maybe write about it a bit too.

It’s sounds like a hard job, but being a good friend I felt I had a duty to do it….
